35 weeks

Sorry for the gap in posts but our internet at the house went down so we've been disconnected from the outside world. The last week or so home has allowed us to get a few more things ready like hanging the last window treatments in the nursery and getting the car seats installed in the car.
Sara hit the 35-week mark on Friday and we celebrated with a little trip down to the hospital just to check things out. Actually, Sara was having regular contractions again so we went in on Friday thinking this was the day these boys would be born. However, once we arrived and they got her settled in a room they checked her and she hadn't dilated any more so after keeping an eye on her for an hour or two they said we could go home!
Since then it's been an uneventful weekend which has been good! We go back to the doctor tomorrow so we'll see what they say. We are scheduled to have a growth scan/ultrasound so maybe we'll get an update on each of their estimated sizes. One final exciting event of note...I actually was able to sneak out for nine holes of golf!!! It felt so nice--I hope Sara doesn't see this!

...we made it another day!

We had a doctor's appointment this afternoon to get a quick check-up and everything is looking good. Baby A has moved slightly but is still breech and Baby B is still head down and squirming up a storm. The babies continue to look great! The Doc said that really once things get going again there won't be any stopping this go-round so we are counting every extra day as a blessing. Basically, as of right now, we are taking it six-hours at a time between medicines that are aimed to hold off the contractions. I quickly learned that life in the hospital maybe does have a few advantages...Sara has a new nurse and a new doctor at home now (which can be quite time consuming I might add).

Home for now...

The Dr came in this morning and checked Sara and since she's been doing so well they let us come home. They discharged her and we packed up and headed home.
The babies are looking strong and so basically at this point the game plan is to buy as many days as possible with them in the oven. We go back to the Dr's office on Monday and will begin going twice a week so they will be keeping a close eye on her. Basically, at this point if she started having strong contractions they want us to head back in and they wouldn't do too much to hold things off.
We will keep you posted as always. It already feels great to be home sweet home! Have a great rest of the weekend!

34 weeks!!

We made it to 34 weeks which is truly a miracle in and of itself. Sara is feeling great but continues on bed-rest and still seems to have occasional contractions which in turn continues to keep us here at the hospital for monitoring.
We are becoming regulars here and now know all the staff quite well. The babies are looking great and remain very active as we await their arrival. The doctors are trying to hold everything off until 36 weeks if possible so the boys can be as strong as possible once delivered and hopefully will not need to spend any time in the NICU.
We can't express enough thanks to all of our friends and family who continue to keep us company here at the hospital and have brought us meals and the occasional coffee or milk shake (we'll let you guess which treat goes to who)!!

Still here...just hanging

It seems like we may have picked out our second home...although, there is a chance we may be going back to our summer home by the end of the week so we're optimistic. Sara continues to do well but at the same time she continues to have enough contractions to require continued shots and occasional monitoring.
On a brighter note, the Dr's continue to feel confident that if the babies are delivered any day they will do great. Each of the boys are measuring strong and healthy each time they check them out which is a huge comfort.
Thanks so much for all the kind words and support along with all your continued prayers!

Sara update-Monday

We are still at the hospital and it now looks like we may be here until these babies are delivered. The good news is we got a new room but the bad news is we don't like it and it's a little dreary in here. Seriously, Sara has continued to have some contractions every now and then so they don't want to send her home only to have us show back up the next day. Thankfully she is feeling well and isn't in too much pain. So, for now we just wait.
Update: we were able to get moved to another room which is much lighter and airy with lots of windows and natural light! It helps to have friends who work up here (Thanks "D")! We are feeling better already.

33-week update

Well, Sara didn't quite make it to 33 weeks without incident. On Wednesday night, she went to bed feeling a few small contractions, but after a little while she feel asleep for an hour or two. At around 2:30am she woke up feeling more contractions and started feeling them regularly. So, we hopped in the car and headed up to the hospital to get her checked out thinking and laughing about how they would send us back home as a "false alarm." Little did we know, the hospital room that they took us to would become our home away from home for a short time. Sara's contractions were quite regular and even started getting more intense over the first 24 hours we were here.
After multiple meds and IV treatments the contractions finally started easing up by Friday mid-morning and by Saturday morning the contractions had mostly stopped. Currently, we are hopeful that she will be able to go home by the beginning of the week. She will remain on bed-rest until these two crazy boys decide they are ready to arrive! Thank you so much for all your prayers! It is really a miracle that we made it through the first 24 hours without having the babies--all the doctors and nurses were very surprised to see us still here the following, especially with no babies. Please continue to pray that we will be able to go home and that these guys will be able to hold on for a couple more weeks. We will try our best to keep you posted!

A few more additions to the baby room as we continue to put the finishing touches on everything so that we are all set for the BIG event (and no, I'm not talking about the start of the NFL season)! We still have a few more small items to complete and then the nursery is ready for action. We have our 33 week Dr appointment tomorrow so we hope to have another update shortly.

Baby Room in progress

We are making some progress on the nursery with still some work to be done. Here are a few pictures to show you how it looks today. The dresser has some additional work left and then a few things to hang on the wall and we believe we are ready...is that ever possible?!?
